A little about us:
My wife Patti and I have a six year old standard red smooth Dachshund named Hoover. We've had Hoover since he was a puppy. Whenever we traveled, we always stressed about what to do with Hoover. We tried boarding him at our vets office. We called three times a day to see how he was doing. He was there a week and we couldn't wait to get home. We even cut our vacation short to return and pick him up.
Next, we left him with a neighbor who have two dogs and two cats. We thought he didn't get the same attention that we would give him. It got to the point that we wouldn't travel unless we were staying at a dog friendly hotel or resort. Needless to say, we didn't travel to much.
The idea of starting this business came to us after joining a local Dachshund Meet Up group. So many Dachshunds and so many owners that share the same fears about leaving their Dachshunds with strangers or cold kennels indicated there was a diffinent need for us.
We strongly believe our love for animals and Dachshunds in particular gives us a unique niche in the pet setting world. It's about trust and being totally comfortable with who you intrust your "babies" with.
